Will is a composer and multi-instrumentalist whose diverse musical activities include post-modern orchestral composition, jazz, Klezmer and progressive rock. He is a founding member of the South-London composers’ collective outLINE which organises concerts in venues not usually associated with classical music. The group was awarded the Vivian Prindle Outreach Prize in 2016. You can find out more about outLINE on their website.
Will began his musical explorations with the saxophone, discovering the beauty of classical music alongside the vivid exhilaration of jazz improvisation. However, finding himself unfulfilled by the limited classical saxophone repertoire available, he began writing his own music for saxophone quartets. This led him to study composition at Trinity Laban for four years where he achieved a First Class degree and was exposed to a wealth of new musical stimuli including Balinese Gamelan and East-European Klezmer.
A self-taught guitarist and singer, Will is the vocalist, bassist and principal composer for progressive rock band The Connoisseur, which will be releasing its first EP in the new year. Along with this band, Will also leads his jazz quintet, the Jazz Professors and a Klezmer wedding band, as well as playing saxophones in his local wind ensemble.
